In a study carried out at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, India, effect of aqueous extract of P. marsupium on fructose-induced hyperglycemia, hyperinsulinemia, and hypertriglyceridemia was evaluated.

Data suggested that 30 days treatment with P. Marsupium extract at 1 g/kg/day dosage significantly lowered the serum glucose levels. In addition, it substantially prevented hyperinsulinemia and hypertriglyceridemia.
